This wedding actually took place a couple of months ago, and I feel badly that it has taken me so long to post it. Destiny contacted me just a few weeks before the wedding date; like most elopements, this one was being planned only a short time in advance. I love elopements, and the Seattle Courthouse is a very nice place to have a wedding. The views are spectacular, especially if the weather cooperates and lets me take the couple out onto the rooftop for some of their photos.
Like most elopements I did not meet the couple until we actually were at the Courthouse. I had done several other weddings recently at the Courthouse, and for those weddings masks had still been required due to Covid restrictions. Serious bummer whe trying to take wedding photos! But when I entered the lobby I saw that the guards were not bothering to wear masks even though signs on the door said that masks were still required. I decided that this was going to be a no-mask wedding unless we were forced to wear them.
Shortly after I arrived Destiny and Myles also arrived, accompanied by Myles’ parents, who were to act as witnesses. The weather was nice so we headed straight to the roof to take some photos, which you will see below.
We had to move quickly, because a judge was due to be free soon to conduct the wedding. So we moved back into the hallway near the judges’ chambers and took a few more photos there while waiting.
Finally we got the call that a judge was ready for the ceremony. Myles and Destiny were tols that their wedding would take place in the library, a very nice room with a wonderful view of the Smith Tower and South Seattle. Our judge was Anita Crawford-Wills, who I had worked with several times in the past.
The ceremony went perfectly, and in a very short time (as is the case with most elopements!) we had a brand new married couple.
It was now completely dark so we made a quick trip back to the roof for some photos with the city lights. This wedding was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed working with Destiny and Myles.
