Sneak Peek – Lizzie and Tony’s Wonderful Wedding at the DAR House

Yesterday I was the fortunate photographer at the wedding of Anthony and Elizabeth, better known as Tony and Lizzie.  The wedding took place at the Rainier Chapter House of the DAR, a very cool old mansion located just off Broadway on Capital Hill.

Because the grounds of the Chapter House are rather limited for photo opportunities, I suggested that we start by going to nearby Volunteer Park for a pre-wedding photo session.  Lizzie and Tony thought this was a good plan, so we agreed to meet at the park a couple of hours before the ceremony was planned to begin so we could get some nice outdoor photos with just the bride and groom before meeting all of the family back at the venue for all of the family photos.

I have done many photo sessions at Volunteer Park, and in the summer it tends to be a VERY busy place, especially when the weather is nice.  It is frequently the location for some very large events, involving hundreds of people.  At times I have had to park a couple of blocks away and carry all of my gear into the park.  So I was a little apprehensive about what I might find as I drove to the park.  I had checked online and there were no events listed as being scheduled to happen, but I have learned that you can’t always trust that public park sites are updated as often as they might be.

As it turned out my fears were completely unfounded.  The park was actually rather quiet, with plenty of parking and a relatively small number of people enjoying the gorgeous day.  We spent a very pleasant hour walking around the park looking for nice places for photos.  A couple of them are here for you to see.  I will have a lot more photos from the entire wedding when I do my full blog posting in a few days.
