Alicia and Ted Get Married at Palisade

On a nearly perfect late August afternoon/evening Alicia and Ted were married at Palisade Restaurant in Seattle.  I began the day with bride Alicia at the Westin Hotel, where she was getting ready for the wedding.  All of my pre-wedding day communications had been with Ted, so Alicia and I had never even talked before.  I arrived as she was still having her hair and makeup done, so we were able to get to know each other a bit while I was taking photos of the “getting ready” procedure.  Alicia’s niece Hana was there as well; she was to be the flower girl at the ceremony.

First Look Photos at Kerry Park

Once Alicia was ready it was time to head for Kerry Park to meet up with Ted for the First Look, as well as to take advantage of the great conditions for some photos at the park.  First Look sessions are always rather interesting, as we have to keep the bride out of sight until it is time for the groom to see her.  Not too difficult at most locations, but at a popular and very busy place like Kerry Park it can be challenging!

Once we reached the park, I left Alicia and Hana in the car while I went to find Ted.  Fortunatley spotting a guy in a tux  in a park on an 80 degree day is pretty easy!  I got Ted into position and gave him his instructions – “Don’t turn around until I tell you to” – then got Alicia from the car and into the place I wanted her for the First Look.  You’ll see the photos of this below.

The First Look went perfectly, and Ted seemed slightly flummoxed as he saw his soon to be wife in her wedding dress.  And he should have been!  Alicia looked simply amazing!

We spent 20-30 minutes taking photos with the couple, Hana and Ted’s friend James.  Then it was time to drive to Palisade for the wedding.

The Wedding Ceremony at Palisade

For those who have never been to Palisade, it is a beautiful restaurant located along the water at the south end of the Magnolia neighborhood, and is located next to/in the middle of a large marina.  Boats everywhere!  Just a gorgeous venue and a favorite of mine for weddings.  When we arrived at Palisade many of the guests were already there, so we snuck Alicia in through the kitchen to keep her out of sight.

Once everyone was ready and the guests were in their seats it was time for the ceremony to begin.  Hana led the way down the aisle followed by Alicia, who was escorted by her brother Rick. The ceremony was held outdoors under an open sided tent, right along the edge of the water.  Talk about a great setting for a wedding!  Quite a few photos of the ceremony below.

The Reception

While the majority of the reception was held indoors, the warm weather made perfect conditions to spend time outside.  The ceremony ended well before sunset, and since we had not yet had a chance to take photos of Alicia and Ted at Palisade, not to mention their assorted family, I took Ted and Alicia on a walk around the nearby portion of the marina to get a few photos.  Then we met up with the family and some friends for some group shots before everyone joined the remainder of the guests, who had been enjoying drinks and appetizers while we were busy with the photo session.

After dinner was served and Ted and Alicia finished eating, we made another quick trip outdoors for some photos with the sunset.  Then it was time for dancing!  I was quite impressed with the dancing abilities of this group, and how long everyone spent on the dance floor.  Which always makes for some fun photos.
