I recently had the pleasure of doing an engagement photo session with Eun and Han. They will be getting married in late February, and we needed to squeeze in an engagement photo session so they will be able to display some of the photos at their wedding, which they told me is a Korean tradition. Eun had some specific outdoor locations in mind that she really wanted to visit for the photos, so we watched the forecast carefully and tried to plan for a day that would work for outdoor photos.
The weather was not very accommodating, and we kept looking further and further out but realized that if we didn’t act quickly there would not be time to get the photos printed for the wedding. So we took a chance on a day with a relatively low chance on rain and headed for Discovery Park, Eun’s first choice of locations. The weather was actually quite good, but we soon discovered that hundreds (at least) of other people had also decided to get outdoors while they could and the park was jammed, with no available parking at the main lot. I have found that not many park visitors know that it is OK to drive to the beach area of Discovery Park, so we headed there to try out luck. Sure enough, there were several empty parking places so we set out to take photos on and around the beach. After thoroughly exploring the beach (and taking LOTS of photos) we then drove back into the park where I spotted a quasi-legal parking place near a wooded area, and we took more photos.
Then it was off to Pike Place Market, the other location Eun wanted to use. At this point it was pretty late in the afternoon, and we only had about an hour of usable light left. But that proved to be no problem. Unlike the park, the Market had a lower number of people than I would have expected (so it was only crowded instead of packed!) and we made our way around and through the Market finding neat places for photos.
Following is a selection of photos from our session, I hope you enjoy the photos!
