Jennyfer and Daniel Elope at the Seattle Municipal Courthouse
But that was only the first part of the day. When Jennyfer had contacted me a few weeks earlier, she wanted to know if it was possible to do a pre-wedding session and the wedding on the same day. Since the wedding was taking place at the Seattle Municipal Courthouse and would be a short ceremony, the only real issue was starting the Kubota session early enough to complete the session and leave enough time to get to the courthouse by 4:30, so they would be able to get married that afternoon. We went over all the logistics and came up with a timetable that looked like it would work.
The Kubota session went beautifully, and we left the park for the courthouse a bit before 4PM. On arriving at the courthouse I had Jennyfer and Daniel check in as soon as they arrived, so they would be at the front of the line when a judge became available to officiate their ceremony. Jennyfer then did a quick change into her wedding dress, and we were ready to go.
The sun was just beginning to set, and since we knew that we had some time before a judge would be free I took the couple to the courthouse roof balcony for some photos. This is a wonderful place for photos, and our timing was perfect to catch the sun as it set, as well as the immediate aftermath and lighting.
Then we moved back into the building to wait for a judge. We didn’t have to wait long. Judge Abdrea Chinn came out of her office to meet us. I have worked with Judge Chinn numerous times, and she is always wonderful to work with. Judge Chinn took us straight to the Judge’s Library, where the ceremony would be held. This is a beautiful room with a fantastic view over south Seattle and even of Mt Rainier on a good day.
First all of the wedding paperwork had to be dealt with, and then it was time for the ceremony. Even though the sun had set some time ago, it was very clear and there was still a lot of post-sunset light that made for a nice backdrop through the windows. Judge Chinn did her usual great job, and it did not take long before Daniel and Jennyfer were legally married.
Afterwards we took a few more photos in the Library with the judge and the two friends who had come to be the witnesses at the wedding. We wrapped things up with some photos outside the front doors of the Courthouse. A lot of fun, and doing the combo session made it even better.
