When Jennyfer first contacted me, she wanted to know if it was possible to have a pre-wedding photo shoot on the same day as their wedding ceremony. She explained that she and fiance Daniel were planning to have a wedding at the Seattle Courthouse, but had never had a chance to do engagement photos. They wanted to do a separate photo session on the same day as the wedding if that was possible.
We talked a bit over the options. Since we were well into Autumn, one consideration we had to keep in mind was the time of day and subsequent amount of available light. Daniel and Jennyfer needed to be at the Courthouse at 4:30 to check in for their wedding, and if we had a cloudy day it could be dark as early as 4PM. Not much that we could do to control the weather, but we at least needed to keep that in mind in our plans.
We decided that the Kubota Garden in south Seattle was a good option for the pre-ceremony photos. It is fairly close to the Courthouse, so we would not be wasting a lot of time driving between locations. And the Garden is one of the most photogenic locations in Seattle for this kind of photo session.
Once we made the decision on the location it was just a matter of choosing a time, and then hoping that the Weather Gods decided to be kind and not give us a dark and rainy day! As it turned out we were lucky on both counts. The day was actually mostly clear, meaning we had plenty of light as well as dry conditions.
Here are some photos from the Kubota session. I will be doing a separate post for the wedding at a later date. You can see lots more of my photos by clicking here to see my blog page.
