Yesterday afternoon I was the fortunate photographer (love the alliteration!) at the wedding of Brandie and Greg, held at Ray’s Boathouse in the Northwest Room. If you have not ever been to Ray’s, in addition to the main building there is a separate facility right next door that is used for weddings, receptions and other events. Beautiful venue, and after a substantial remodel last summer it is better than ever as a location for a wedding.
All week long the weather forecast was looking rather grim for Saturday, with forecasts ranging from rainy and windy to even a chance of snow. And sure enough, Saturday morning Seattleites woke up to discover that parts of the city had picked up a couple of inches of snow overnight. Because of the way that the Northwest Room is set up, the weather really would not be a problem even if it was very nasty, but I always want to try to get the bride and groom outdoors for photos if conditions allow. Because of Ray’s location right on Shilshole Bay there are some really wonderful locations for photos very close by, but if the weather doesn’t cooperate you’re pretty much out of luck for outdoor photos.
When I left my home in Bellevue to drive to Ray’s the conditions were looking promising, but dark clouds to the south showed that anything was still possible. By the time I reached Ray’s it was looking like the weather gods were going to smile on us after all, with the sun even making brief appearances through the cloud cover.
As you can see from the photo above the weather turned out to be simply beautiful, with lots of sun and even some decent temperatures. I’m not going to go into detail now about the wedding, that will have to wait until my full blog posting which should be later this week. So be sure to check back later, I’ll be posting a lot of photos detailing the entire wedding and reception!
