On December 27, 2016 I was the lucky photographer at the fantastic wedding of Miriah and Roemon, held at the Lake Union Cafe in Seattle. Because this was a winter wedding and held in the evening, taking outdoor photos before the ceremony was not really an option; it was simply too cold and wet, not to mention dark! None of which are exactly conducive to a fun photo session.
But that was OK, as we were able to take advantage of the nice interior architecture of the Lake Union Cafe to have a very nice indoor photo session. Much more pleasant than going outdoors into the cold rain! Miriah and Roemon had chosen not to see each other before the ceremony, so I moved back and forth between the two dressing rooms, taking candid shots of all the participants as they got ready for the ceremony.
Once the wedding ceremony was completed I was then able to corral the entire wedding party and both families to get the most critical posed shots. It was a bit of a challenge, since all of the guests were anxious to greet the newlyweds, but with a bit of perseverance we were able to finally get the photos taken.
The reception was a wonderful party, beginning with a great dinner (the food at the Cafe is always delicious) and then moving on to toasts by various wedding party and family members, followed by Miriah and Roemon cutting their wedding cake.
Then the party really got underway, as the newlyweds moved onto the dance floor for their first dance, with the father/daughter and mother/son dances coming immediately afterwards. Once the traditional dances were finished the dance floor was opened to the guests. This was one of the most talented dancing groups I have seen in quite some time, and I had a lot of fun getting photos of the wild dancing for the remainder of the evening.
